Well, I'm back!

Hey everyone!

Yes, I know, it's been awhile since I've been on here. Sorry, life is busy, but God is good!
I'm currently a Bible Worker here at my home church in NC. I'm currently studying with over 40 people, contacts from a mailing our conference did.

And yes, I love Bible work, can be quite a challenge though! That's where reliance on God comes in. :)

Anyway, I'll try to share more as I have time.

God bless,
Say hello if you have a minute! ;)

Mission College

Wednesday, April 30, 2008

My Mission College Experience, (well, part of it at least!) ;)

So here I sit, in Victoria, BC

What am I doing here? That is what I keep wondering, and the Lord keeps showing me that He is leading!
You see, I came to Mission College to get a good solid foundation of Biblical understanding. I wanted to know what I believed, and how to prove it to others from the Bible. And then I wanted to go to college and enter the field of emergency medicine.

Well, 3 1/2 months later, that seems like ancient history. And that sounds like such a selfish reason to some to Mission College. Something was missing, something vital to me and to everyone else.
A burden for souls.

It didn't take long for me to find out something completely new and shocking! The truth of the matter is this: the only thing we are going to take to heaven is our charecters. And that has to be Christlike! And the only way to develop a Christlike charecter is by sharing the truth with others!

Did you know that witnessing is essential for your own salvation????
Soon after learning that, we started outreach. On Sundays and Thursdays, for about 4 hours, we knocked on doors, giving religious surveys.
The local church members had warned us that this area was hard to reach. And the only real doorknocking experience I had previously was the 3 times I had gone with GYC on Sabbath afternoon.

And through a series of events, I wound up going door to door with lots of different people as my outreach partners, That was really a huge blessing, becasue I was able to learn different styles of approaching the people.

Well, the Lord really, really blessed! We had a large area for our team, me, the team leader, and my partner, who usually was my roommate, Vanessa.

We knocked on doors, and found tons of people who were interested in studying the Bible more. There were exciting divine appointments! And there were disappointing letdowns too. But the Lord really taught me the importance of prayer with Bible work! A certain  quote that was in the girls bathroom in the dorm really was a huge blessing to me!

 " Personal effort for others should be preceded by much secret prayer; for it requires great wisdom to understand the science of saving souls. Before communicating with men, commune with Christ. At the throne of heavenly grace obtain a preparation for ministering to the people."  {COL 149.1}

Amid the intense stress of tests, memorization, and exams, I was trying to balance outreach! It was tough to try and schedule Bible studies, and contact people, and working with the church members, ect.

But I found that when I gave God time in the morning, and spent time on my knees, and put outreach first, He blessed my schoolwork big time! It was amazing, and it happened time and time again!

And when our meeting started, I was super, super busy! We were out doing outreach a lot more! It was intense!
My job was to sign people in and keep track of the attendance each night. This was hard work, and I missed out on hearing the meetings, because I was so busy working. But the blessing of seeing all the visitors, and our contacts come each night was amazing!

Our attendance kept steady, and just about every night we had brand new visitors come! That was exciting!

At the end of the series, we had over 25 decisions for baptism! And one of our team's contacts, Jon, was baptized! Pastor Torres thought it would be a good experience for me to go over the clearing card for baptism with him. I was so nervous! And so was my partner! But the Lord blessed, and it was a beautiful experience!

And the blessings didn't stop with outreach! But outreach gave me that burden for souls! And we left 7 of our contacts studying with the church members! These are people that didn't come to the meetings, but who are now studying regularly!

I found E G White's book,"Evangelism" in our study room in the dorm. Reading that book really changed my life! Seriously, reading that book really helped me decide to do full time Bible work! It instilled in me a sense of urgency.

So here I sit in Victoria, BC. What am I doing here? Well, the Lord opened up the doors for me to go and preach a series of meeting in the Philippines! My roommate and I will be alternating the preaching, and I'm traveling with her in Canada. It was cheaper to go home with her and then fly out of Vancouver, than to go home and fly back.

All this has happened so fast! It just goes to show that when you let the Lord take control of your life, and give Him your plans, He'll make things happen! In ways that you would never have imagined!

Put Him first, and give Him your plans! You will never regret it! :)

This is Jon's baptism.

These are my people! Well, some of them!

It is official:
The Spring 2008 Applied Ministries Class of Mission College has graduated!

And it is sooooo sad. We all were like family, after 3 1/2 months of stress together.....

Saying goodbye was really sad, but it could have been worse. I am still with my roommate, and will be till June! lol
I just can't seem to get rid of her! j/k! lol

Seriously though, it was very, very strange to get 9 hours of sleep last night, very strange.
And no more memorization! And no more stress! And no more time schedule! Wow, I just don't know what to do with myself, so I decided to update my xanga page!

I currently am in British Columbia, Canada. Canadians use the word, "eh" a lot! I think it's cute. But it certainly is different. It was neat going through the border for my first time, and riding a ferry for the first time, and you know, being in Canada for the first time too!

Here we are, class plus staff and family. May we all meet again someday in heaven, if not again here in this earth!

MISSION COLLEGE OF EVANGELISM SPRING 2008!

We are graduating this Sabbath!
And then I am off to Canada.
Then to the Philippines to hold an evangelistic series.
Then hopefully home for a little while....
and then maybe to a Bible working position.

Life is changing soooo fast!  But if the Lord is leading, then I am ok with that! :)

Ok,I must run to PE!
